AboutAs a college student, Jeffrey learned to tune pipe organs while working with pipe organ builders in the five-state area, as well as in New York city. Transitioning from pipe organs to pianos, he took a position in the piano shop at Schmitt Music in Minneapolis, where he initially focused on cabinet work.
He soon discovered the technique he used for tuning pipe organs, while different from traditional piano tuning, was elegant in its simplicity and guaranteed accurate results, so he added piano tuning to his repertoire. Following his tenure at Schmitt Music, he established his own business tuning, repairing, rebuilding and refinishing pianos throughout the Minneapolis-St. Paul area. His tuning is endorsed by Osmo Vänskä, the Music Director of the Minnesota Orchestra - he has tuned Osmo's home Steinway. Jeffrey's refinishing technique uses varnish, a green technology, which is more durable, adaptable and forgiving than lacquer - not to mention easier on the environment. |
