Living the life of a piano tuner in the Twin Cities has many advantages. Traveling the network of roads that serve the community, I get to view the differences of the neighborhoods and even trace original paths made as the metropolitan area grew and accepted new space.  The piano is usually placed in its best light for viewing and comfort. Everybody is happy to see me show up because things are about to get better. Smiles everywhere make my task always a pleasure.  Like a barber looking over each customer, every piano is unique, special to be wherever it is.  Though containing a perfected design establish over a hundred years ago, each piano is left alone to face the elements just like the rest of us. I look for the quietest space in the room and always point out where the piano would love to be. Quiet air flow, better none thru the instrument, away from anything to do with the furnace.  I plead 'less is more' noting that violins and guitars have cases, and pianos sometimes serves two masters; the musician and the decorator.  everyone that
